Labradorite – More Than Just A Flash in the Pan

October 1, 2022 By Jeannette Hollenbeck Leave a Comment

The brilliant colors of Labradorite, displayed in pictures, is but fleeting. Labradorite only reveals it’s true colors, when turned to achieve just the right angle of light, upon its surface.

When not flashing, most Labradorite specimens remain a murky grayish color. When flashing, Labradorite exhibits variated colors in turquoise, blue, yellow-gold, orange and, though rarely, purple.

Labradorite’s iridescent optical effect is referred to as, labradorescence, and not all specimens possess it. However, Spectrolite, a rare Labradorite variety, displays even more labradorescence, than the average flashy Labradorite.

Labradorite is a calcium-enriched, plagioclase feldspar mineral, and a member of the Triclinic crystal class. Labradorite ranges from translucent to transparent, and is vitreous in luster. Labradorite’s Moh’s hardness Level of 6 to 6.5 lends it to being machine carved into objects of great beauty.

Labradorite was first identified in Labrador, Canada, but has also been found in Poland, Norway, Finland, Madagascar, China, Australia, Slovakia, and the U.S. Today, the majority of Labradorite is produced in Canada and Madagascar.

Healing Affects of Labradorite on the Mind-Body-Spirit

Mental/Emotional Affects of Labradorite: Labradorite reveals the beliefs and thought patterns beneath unhealthy mental habits and states of emotional distress.

Labradorite also calms an overactive mind, clears brain fog, and reduces fears and insecurities. Additionally, Labradorite’s rainbow flashes inspire joy and creativity.

Physical Affects of Labradorite: Labradorite strengthens bones and teeth, and promotes healing of colds, gout, arthritis, and rheumatism. Labradorite also regulates the heart’s rhythms, blood pressure, and metabolism.

Additionally, Labradorite helps in revealing unconscious patterns that have caused mysterious type illnesses, and viable options for their healing.

Spiritual Affects of Labradorite: Labradorite is considered to be a stone of magic, and psychic protection. It opens one up to the magic of discarnate entities, and other realms of existence, by opening up 3rd Eye seeing (clairvoyance), making this stone useful in spiritual and magical ritual work.

Labradorite aids in activities such as, giving psychic readings, telepathy, prophecy, past-life recall, remote viewing, astral travel, accessing the Akashic Records, and communication with Spirit Guides.

Importantly, Labradorite offers psychic protection when entering into the aforementioned spiritual and psychic development activities. It creates a force field that deflects negative energies, and prevents others from draining one’s personal energies.

Labradorite is considered to be spiritually transformational by attracting and ampifying the effects of meaningful synchronicities in one’s life.

Using Labradorite

Labradorite has been machine etched, and machine carved into many beautiful objects such as, beads, pendants, crystal balls, hearts, pyramids, wands, and my and my granddaughter’s personal favorite, obelisks.

Raw and polished specimens, and decorative objects fashioned from Labradorite, can be found in New Age and Rock shops, and all over the internet.

To receive the positive affects of Labradorite on the Mind-Body-Spirit, small specimens can be worn as jewelry, in pockets of clothing, or taped to the 3rd Eye area in meditation. Small Labradorite specimens can also be laid on the body, or in a grid laid around the body, during a crystal healing session.

Labradorite slabs and carved objects, can be displayed around the home for their beauty, or set upon altars for their spiritually protective energies.

Labradorite’s flashiness may lead one to think it’s a light weight of the crystal realm, but the contrary is true. Labradorite is a heavy weight when it comes to healing, psychic development, and spiritual transformation, and will be a great aid to its users on their personal Spiritual Path. I hope you will give this beauty a try!
