Channeling is a method of divination performed by a living person speaking, writing, or typing a disembodied Spirit’s message. In channeling, it’s believed that a Spirit, or group of Spirits, is speaking through the Channeler (the one serving as the channel) to convey a spiritually uplifting message.
It would appear from the volumes of existing helpful channeled material, that these channeled Spirits of higher consciousness and wisdom, have a deep interest in the welfare of humankind.
For it must truly pain these Spirits to watch humans floundering around stubbing toes and banging heads, when they know if humans just knew to stop swimming upstream and instead go with the flow of the governing laws of the Universe, their lives would be less difficult and thus more joyful.
Difference in Channeling and Mediumship
Often Mediums are said to have “channeled” their Sitter’s (Client’s) deceased loved ones. Even though it’s possible for a Medium to channel a Spirit, most often they are communicating with a Sitter’s deceased loved ones and consciously relaying messages they receive to their Sitter, while fully in control of their own voice.
In contrast, a Channeler has actually been taken over by a Spirit who uses their voice to communicate the Spirit’s message directly through them while displaying the Spirit’s syntax, vocabulary, and mannerisms. Moreover, the Channeler doesn’t know the words before they are spoken, not until they hear them at the same time as others present.
What is the Purpose of Channeling?
The purpose of channeling depends on if you are the Channeler, or the Spirit conveying the message.
Purpose of the Channeler – If you are the Channeler, you are compelled to receive and share the great wisdom from a Spirit of higher consciousness whom you are channeling. You desire to use this wisdom for your Soul’s spiritual development and that of other Souls whom you may share this wisdom with.
Purpose of the Channeled Spirit – If you are the Spirit conveying the messages through the Channeler, you are compelled to aid humans to sidestep the obstacles and pitfalls that hold them back from their joy and, more importantly, from their Soul’s spiritual development. From the vantage point of the Spirit, much of human suffering can be avoided, if humans only knew what the Spirit knows.
Greatest Obstacle to Channeling
Channeling requires getting the conscious mind out of the way and surrendering to the Spirit and the process. It takes a lot of trust from the Channeler to allow a Spirit to take them over for the channeling session.
As long as there are feelings of fear on the Channeler’s part, there will be no channeled communication, for Spirits can not violate the human’s free-will. Indeed, the fear factor is the greatest obstacle to successful channeling.
Notable Channelers
There have been many well-known Channelers who published their channeled material in a book or a series of books. In fact, the New Age and metaphysical sections of bookstores are peppered with channeled material, either transcribed from verbal channeling sessions, or written/typed directly onto manuscript pages.
Jane Roberts – channeled a disembodied entity known as Seth, for 21 years from 1963 untill her death in 1984. Jane’s husband Robert Butts, Jr. recorded her more than 1,500 voice channeled sessions. Jane wrote 10 books containing her channeled “Seth Material.”
Esther Hicks – channels a group of disembodied entities known a Abraham. The name Abraham here is not related to the Christian Bible figure, but rather to the word’s meaning of “Teacher.” Esther’s late husband, Jerry Hicks recorded her voice channeled sessions and together they co-wrote a series of books containing the “Abraham-Hicks Material.”
Additionally, Esther and Jerry conducted many subsequent workshops and Esther continues to conduct workshops on both land and aboard cruise ships.
The Abraham-Hicks Material has a distinctive Law of Attraction theme to it which substantially contributed to the popularization of this theme among contemporary society.
Sanaya Roman and Duane Packer – have each written several channeled books. But their most notable book was a collaborative one, Opening to Channel: How to Connect to Your Guide, which they later turned into a popular workshop. Their workshop enabled students to perform channeling of high-level Spirits for their own spiritual development.
In their channeled books Roman channels a disembodied entity known as Orin, and Packer channels a disembodied entity known as DaBen.
Edgar Cayce – was probably the most prolific trance Channeler, known as the ”Sleeping Prophet,” who gave over 14,000 documented voice channeled readings while lying in deep trance on his couch. Of the late Cayce’s readings about 10,000 were medical intuitive readings, and the remainder were past lives, life’s purpose, and prediction readings.
Cayce’s readings are stored in his still active institute, the Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) in Virginia Beach, VA.
How is Voice Channeling Performed?
Voice channeling can be done while in either a light meditative state or a deep trance state. For spoken channeling, the channeled voice that is heard can sound like the Channeler’s own voice or another’s voice and can seem to come from either inside or outside the Channeler’s head.
The voice Channeler needs to have developed a consistent meditation practice, so the Spirits know the day and time they will be in meditation. They also need to be able to reach and hold a meditative (alpha brainwave) state for the length of a channeling session. And their Throat Chakra, which is used in channeling, needs to be developed and open for channeling to be performed.
Initially, the voice Channeler must use a proprietary method (each channeling instructor has their own) to connect to a high-level Spirit whom they will subsequently channel.
After establishing a relationship with their high-level Spirit, the voice Channeler sits in a meditative state and asks their specific high-level Spirit to come in and communicate through them by using their voice. Then the voice Channeler mentally notes any words or phrases their Spirit communicates through them.
Note: As not to disrupt the meditative state by note taking, voice recording the channeling session is advised. If not voice recording, immediately following the conclusion of the session, do make notes of the experience. Like a dream, details of a channeling experience may fade from memory when back in the wide-awake (beta brainwave) state.
Personal Experience With Voice Channeling
In my own occurences of channeling during meditation, the voice has sounded like my own voice from behind my ear, and each word is slowly and deliberately spoken without me knowing the word that will come next.
For me the channeled phrase starts out like a verse of a familiar song, commercial jingle, or limerick (younger readers may not be familiar) but is then altered to relay the Spirit’s exact intended message.
Very often I’m experiencing a clairvoyant image/scene simultaneously, and the channeled message seems to describe the meaning of the image. What could be better then a picture with a caption?
How is Automatic Writing/Typing Channeling Performed?
Automatic writing/typing channeling also requires a meditative state and a developed and open Throat Chakra. And again, the automatic writing/typing Channeler must initially use a proprietary method to connect to a high-level Spirit whom they will subsequently channel.
Once a relationship with their high-level Spirit is established, the automatic writing/typing Channeler sits with pen and paper, or at a keyboard, enters a meditative state, and asks their specific high-level Spirit to come in to communicate through them, by using their hands.
Then they will begin to write/type for as long as their Spirit compels them to do so. There may indeed be some jibberish included in the recorded dictation, but also some words of wisdom.
Is Protection Important in Channeling?
Channeling disembodied Spirits is relatively safe as long as the Channeler has a strong intention that they will channel only Spirits of higher consciousness. Spirits are 100% energy, and energy must always follow human thought, intention, and more importantly human will.
It’s important to note here, that Channelers should absolutely not use a Ouija board for channeling Spirits. All manner of Spirits, of both high and low consciousness can enter your home through this type of portal.
While low consciousness Spirits can’t actually harm you, they can mess with you and be reluctant to leave. If you should end up with a lower consciousness type Spirit, demand with strong conviction they leave your presence and never return, and they must do exactly that.
As long as prior to a channeling session, you state a prayer of protection and ask that only Spirits of the highest consciousness channel through you, you should not be bothered by low-level Spirits.
Summing Up
It can be quite beneficial to channel positive insights and great wisdom of a Spirit of higher consciousness. Their messages can change your life for the better and give you a giant leap on your Soul’s spiritual path.
